Cornell Astronomical Society
Founded in 1972, the Cornell Astronomical Society (CAS) has run public observing nights at the Fuertes Observatory for nearly 50 years. During the observering night, members use the he historic 12" Irving Porter Church Refractor (finished in 1922) as well as many other telescopes to showcase celestrial objects to the public. Occasiaonlly, CAS runs private tours for girl scout groups, K-12 groups, and Cornell students groups.
In addition to participating in public outreach and open house, I am also trained to use various telescopes and astrophotography equipments. Here are some of my works:
The Sun in H-alpha spectra line with prominences and sunspots visible
Taken on a Coronado solar telescope at Fuertes Observatory, Cornell University
The Milky Way pierced by a shooring star
Taken in Cherry Spring State Park, PA
